Join the Tulsa Debate League as Tulsa Public Schools students explore refugee policy with a distinguished panel of experts, including Christina da Silva, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Mayor, Maria Fedore, Youth Education Manager at YWCA Tulsa, and Mimi Marton, Assistant Clinical Professor of Law at the University of Tulsa. Hannibal Johnson will moderate the panel. The event will focus on the complex set of issues raised by the refugee crisis in Central America. In the first segment of the night, two debate teams will argue about the proper policy of the United States with respect to Central America. In the second segment, the panelists will comment on and discuss the issues raised by the students. You will take away an appreciation of the various perspectives on and history of this issue, an understanding of the importance of civil dialogue, and the students just might change your mind! Join us for a fun and educational night.
